Abstract

Objective: Cardiac arrhythmias are important causes of morbidity and mortality in hypertensive patients. However, despite the wide spectrum of arrhythmias seen in these patients (supraventricular extrasystoles, atrial fibrillation, ventricular extrasystoles, ventricular tachycardia), we do not have sufficient data about the predictors and treatment alternatives of these arrhythmias. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of blood pressure control without antiarrhythmic treatment on the frequency of ventricular (V) arrhythmias and on noninvasive electrocardiologic parameters thought to be related to these arrhythmias such as heart rate variability (HRV), QT dispersion (QTd) and QT dynamicity.
