The purpose of this study was to examine the socio-demographic characteristics of elderly people with respect to the effects of gender on their life satisfaction. The simple random sampling method was used to collect data from a sample of 211 older adults from nursing homes located in central Ankara. The data revealed that the satisfaction level of female respondents was low. However, in the case of male respondents, life satisfaction was related to self-confidence. The study also revealed a significant relationship among all six dimensions (satisfied, penitent, depressive, optimist, pessimist, self-confident) with life satisfaction.
