Abstract

Cardiac tissue engineering and cellular therapies are among the new treatment strategies that have gained importance in the treatment of heart diseases. Although cell-based

therapies show valuable improvement for treatment of heart diseases at both preclinical and clinical levels, the translation of such strategies into a clinical setting has been limited.

Because of this reason, cardiac tissue engineering applications have emerged as a new treatment strategy. In this chapter, we summarized important results of recent developments

in cardiac tissue engineering including stem cells and biomaterials as key elements.
