Abstract

This paper presents a framework for implementing mindfulness, the concept of active engagement in the present moment, into Information Literacy (IL) instruction. The schema is grounded in the library and information science (LIS) and education literature that explores the tenets of mindfulness and concerted efforts at application. It is informed by findings from an original survey of the most preferred IL teaching strategies by a sample of academic librarians in North America. The resulting Mindfulness Nuance Framework can be used as a heuristic tool to integrate mindfulness into IL instruction.
