Özet

Bioenergy is a renewable energy alternative to fossil fuels, offering a means to reduce GHG emissions and support sustainable development in rural areas. T & uuml;rkiye possesses diverse biomass resources, well-suited for electricity generation. By comprehensive data collection, we projected the long-term potential of each biomass type and assessed its contribution to the country's clean energy goals. Our analysis encompassed the potential of various sustainable biomass resources, including animal manure, municipal organic waste, sewage sludge, crop residues and firewood. In the modeled reference scenario following the country's energy targets, the share of renewables in electricity generation increases to 73% and with more ambitious biomass utilization, this share could be elevated to 82% by 2050, potentially reducing GHG emissions by 96.6 million ton of CO2eq. The findings of this study provide valuable insights for policymakers, demonstrating the extent to which sustainable bioenergy can contribute to shaping the electricity supply mix and influence long-term energy goals. It also helps in identifying crucial feedstock types for substantial bioenergy production, thus contributing to the progress of decarbonized development.
