Özet

Difficult intubation ratio varies between 0.05-18 % in many clinical studies. Usually in 2-3 % of cases it's confronted with severe difficulty. Mallampati scoring, Wilson risk assesment, laryngoscopic inspection, sternomental distance, anterior mandibular region anatomy, degree of neck extension, radiographic examination, computerised tomographical view are the means that are used for determination of difficult intubation beforehead. Different syndromes, pathological conditions and cancerous lesions of head and neck region may lead to difficult intubation, Syphilis is a chronic infectious disease caused by Treponema Pallidum which affects skin and all internal organ systems. It's composed of four different phases which are primary, secondary, tertiary and latent phase. Lesions seen at tertiary phase may affect laryngeal and pharyngeal structures causing difficult intubation. Difficult intubation in a syphilitic case in latent phase was discussed in this case report.
