The aim of this study is to examine the awareness of pre-service biology teachers (biology PTs) regarding artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and their perspectives on the use of AI in biology teaching. The study was designed as an exploratory and descriptive single case study within a qualitative research framework. The study group consists of 10 biology PTs who are in the final year of their education at the faculty of education of a state university. The Artificial Intelligence Awareness Form developed by the researcher was used as the data collection tool. The data were analyzed using inductive content analysis. The views of the pre-service teachers on the role of AI in biology teaching were compiled and discussed in light of the existing literature. The findings indicate that biology PTs’ interest in AI is primarily focused on technical and creative production dimensions; however, they lack sufficient experience in integrating AI into pedagogical practices and are not adequately familiar with AI tools that can be used in the teaching process.
