Özet

Oxynoemacheilus is a species-rich genus of nemacheilid fishes known from Albania eastwards to Central Iran. There are 58 available species-group names and 41 species are recognized here as valid. Four species occur in Europe (O. bureschi, O. merga, O. pindus, O. theophilii) and 38 species are found in Anatolia and the Middle East. Barbatula paucilepis, Cobitis tigris, Nemacheilus tigris cyri, N. namiri, Noemacheilus tigris seyhonensis and Orthrias angorae ercisianus recently placed in Paracobitis as well as Nun galilaeus and Seminemacheilus tongiorgii are all transferred to Oxynoemacheilus.
