Abstract

In this study, it is tried to show the effect of pulley diameter of diamond wire cutting machine to cutting performance. For this purpose, firstly, 4 different diameters of pulleys (50, 60, 70 and 80 cm) were manufactured for Model Diamond Wire Cutting Machine developed in Hacettepe University Department of Mining Engineering and natural stone blocks were cut using these pulleys. On these cutting operations, pulley rotation (1000 rpm) and tensioning amperage (28 amperes) were constant. After the cutting operations, unit wear on beads were measured and average cutting rate and vibration values that occurred on diamond wire cutting machine were recorded. The relationships among diameter of pulley with unit wear on diamond beads, average cutting rate and vibration on the machine were investigated. As a result, the effects of pulley diameter to cutting performance have been investigated.
