Abstract

The Arcadian Library contains a rich collection of sources that reveal European perceptions of the Ottoman Empire as oscillating between a rigid view of Ottomans as the infidel foe and enemy of Christianity and a more realistic and balanced account that in some cases highlights their positive aspects.
