Abstract

Aim: Rational drug use (RDU) is an issue that has global concerns for all health professionals. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of web-based rational drug use program (RDUP) for nursing students. Method: A total of 224 nursing students were randomly assigned to the intervention (IG = 112) and control (CG = 112) groups. The IG received a 4-week web-based RDUP. Data were collected at baseline (T0), postintervention (in 1-week = T1), and postintervention (in 16-week = T2). Results: The level of RDU was significantly higher in the IG than in the CG at T1 (F = 88.890; p<0.001; η2 = 0.287) and at T2 (F = 251.875; p<0.001; η2 = 0.533). Discussion: Web-based RDUP was effective in level of rational drug use among nursing students. Therefore web-based RDUP should be included in the nursing curriculum.
