Özet

Objective: Deepitelized free gingival graft (DGG) method is to obtain a connective tissue graft (BDG) as a result of deepitelization applied outside the mouth by removing epithelium and a thin connective tissue layer from the palate. Deepitelization of the graft in the mouth may provide advantages such as easier manipulation and faster placement of the graft in the recipient area. This study aims to compare the clinical efficacy of intraoral deepitelization (aiDE) and extraoral deepitelization (adDE) methods in the recipient area.

Materials-Methods: Connective tissue grafts obtained by aiDE and adDE methods were applied to 40 patients in combination with a coronally positioned flap (KPF). Recipient areas were evaluated in terms of recession depthwidth, attachment level, amount of keratinized gingiva, vestibule depth, sensitivity, healing and aesthetics before and after the treatment. The donor sites were evaluated for bleeding, epithelialization, color match, loss of sensation and discomfort.

Results: As a result of the evaluations made after 12 months of follow-up, the aiDE method was found to be more advantageous in terms of reduction in vestibule depth. adDE and aiDE methods gave similar results in terms of root closure, complete root closure, keratinized tissue increase, attachment gain, gingival thickness, pocket depth, dentin sensitivity, and aesthetic results in the recipient area. Results were parallel in terms of recovery at the donor site.

Conclusion: In cases where KPF+BDG application is planned in the treatment of gingival recession, it may be recommended to use both deepitelization methods in terms of success in the recipient and donor sites.
