Abstract

The lump kidney showing an unusual anatomy is a rare form of renal fusion anomaly. The total kidney mass that remains within the pelvic region is irregular and lobulated. This anomaly is rarely considered in the differential diagnosis of abdominal masses in children. The authors describe two patients in whom renal fusion anomalies on Tc-99m DMSA studies suggested lump kidney when the patients were evaluated for an abdominal mass.
