Abstract

© 2022, DOC Design and Informatics Co. Ltd.. All rights reserved.Enterococcus faecalis is a causative agent of hospital-acquired bloodstream infections.Although the incidence of bacteremia due to Enterococcus species is 10%, bacteremia caused by two genotypically different E. faecalis strains has not been reported in the literature, to date. We present a case of bacteremia in which two phenotypically different E. faecalis strains were isolated from the same blood culture. Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) confirmed that these strains were genotypically different.
