This study aims to make a theoretical evaluation of the corruption phenomenon in the health sector in Turkey and to discuss the Turkish public health sector employees' perceptions with respect to the acceptability, frequency and causes of corruption in the Turkish public health services. For this purpose, 4075 Ministry of Health professionals responded a questionnaire consisting of questions concerning the types of corruption, such as bribery, embezzlement, favoritism and extortion, via e-mail. The survey results indicated that in Turkish health services, the acceptability of the presumptive corruption expressions is very low, whereas the frequency of the corruption types is very high. It was also found out that the hospital managers' potential to involve in corruption is relatively high compared to other health sector employees. The survey findings also denoted that poor management and auditing, patronage and the failure in ensuring accountability are the main motives of corruption
