Özet

Self-efficacy is a term that describes individuals’ belief that they can fulfill the work-related and behavioral expectations in any given field and succeed by coping with the accompanying difficulties. In foreign language teaching, individuals’ self-efficacy in the target language is one of the determinant factors that affect educational activities. The present study aims to develop a valid and reliable assessment that determines the speaking self-efficacy of students learning Turkish as a foreign language. A total of 207 foreign students who are learning Turkish at Yunus Emre Turkish Culture Centers and domestic TOMER language teaching centers participated in the study. First, the data obtained from the students was analyzed in SPSS 21.0 by using explanatory factor analysis (EFA), resulting in a range of. 626 to. 838 regarding item factor loading. In addition to this, the measurement is one-fold and consists of 17 items, as predicted by the researchers. After it was determined that the model confirms the one-fold model, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) with LISREL 8.8 was conducted. The results from confirmatory factor analysis Chisquare/ Degree of freedom, RMSEA, SRMR, GFI, AGFI, NFI, NNFI and CFI values were taken into consideration [X2/df=254.48 (p=.000); RMSEA=0.76; GFI=0.87; AGFI=0.83; CFI=0.98; NFI=0.97; NNFI=0.98; SRMR=0.42]. When the acquired data was analyzed, it was observed that the values obtained showed a perfect fit. The data obtained indicate that this measurement is valid and reliable.
