Özet:

One of the most important problems mankind faces is the desertification of saline lands. These areas have large amounts of salt to which plants have to have special responses to tolerate in the ecosystem. To avoid salinity and desertification, studies on the relationship between the elements of the ecosystem can be very important. In these areas, regeneration and growth of plants are depended on soil properties. Therefore, the main objective of this investigation was to identify the relation between the physical and chemical characteristics of soil and the regeneration of Atriplex verrucifera in the eastern coast of Lake Urmia. To collect the field data, six intersecting lines have been drown in the west to east direction systematically and 30 sample (2 m x 2 m )plots were selected randomly on the lines. Then, the soil and plant characteristics were studied. To develop a cause and effect relationship between the soil and plant characteristics a regression analysis was run using the SAS software on computer, and some mathematical models were developed.
