Özet:
The
purpose of this study is to examine and compare the work engagement experiences
of the gifted and the non-gifted workers in technology companies. For this
purpose, a holistic multiple case study method was used. The two unique cases
of the study included 10 gifted and 10 non-gifted workers and their colleagues
also participated in the study as data sources. Personal information form,
semi-structured interviews and Utrecht Work Engagement Scale were used as data
collection tools. The data were analysed through content analysis and
categorisation of quantitative findings. The findings showed that both the gifted
and the non-gifted workers had high-level work engagement at work. In addition,
it was observed that the gifted workers had higher levels of work engagement in
terms of dedication and absorption than the non-gifted workers, while the non-gifted
workers had higher levels of work engagement than the gifted workers in terms
of vigor. The findings of the study
provide a detailed picture of the current work engagement experiences of the gifted
and the non-gifted workers in technology companies of Turkey. As a result of
the study, some recommendations were made for research and policy development
processes.
