After gaining a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Hacettepe University in 2002, Dr. Bulut completed his MSci (The effect of Conjugated Linoleic Acid use with exercise on post heparin plasma lipoprotein lipase and butyrylcholinesterase activities in sedentary young men-TUBITAK SBAG-2964 project)  and PhD in 2014 (Effects of body glycogen stores on substrate utilization and fat oxidation during exercise)  in Hacettepe University Sports Sciences and Technology Program, particularly in the exercise and nutrition metabolism scientific subdivision. 2005-2006, he was a visiting researcher at the Victorian Institute of Sport in Melbourne for a year. He was awarded a TUBITAK 2219 post-doctoral fellowship in late 2019 and is currently continuing his research at the Australian Catholic University, Mary MacKillop Institute for Health Research, Exercise and Nutrition Laboratories under the guidance of Prof John Hawley. His latest research topics are ‘The molecular effects of low glycogen stores during exercise and‘ The effects fish oil supplementation with exercise on human and C2C12 mouse myoblast cell culture and metabolism in postmenopausal women. Dr. Bulut's main research interests are to examine the metabolic interactions of exercise & nutrition combinations on fat oxidation, adipose tissue, muscle, and liver. Dr Bulut, who also established Exercise and Nutrition Metabolism Research laboratories between 2007 and 2014, has been a lecturer at Hacettepe University Faculty of Sport Sciences since 2002. In addition, he’s still working as an assistant editor and publication coordinator in the Journal of Sports Sciences. Long-distance running and soccer are his favorite pastime activities.
