Özet

The most critical change in the newest cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) guidelines, released in November 2010, by American Heart Association is a "crystal clear" recommendation of "therapeutic hypothermia" as a standard of care for comatose survivors of out-of-hospital ventricular fibrillation cardiac arrest. Thus, any nihilistic and prejudicial attitude towards hypothermia such as "ignorance" or "not implementation to routine practice" has henceforth become ethically problematic. For sure, this mandates the development of hospital specific strategy and adaptation plans. Planning, preparation and training to achieve this goal is one of the primary jobs in clinical neurology.
