Purpose: We aimed to test the interrater reliability of Penetration Aspiration Scale (P-AS) which is used in the videofluoroscopic evaluation of swallowing problems. Methods: A hundred and seventy three swallowing images of 55 patients were evaluated by three different physiotherapists. Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) was used for the evaluation of interrater reliability. Results: Thirty three children with a mean age of 3.88 +/- 3.36 years and 22 adults whose mean age was 54.91 +/- 14.59 years were included in the study. In children, ICC was 0.988 and in adults ICC was 0.988 for liquids. In children ICC was 0.953 and in adults ICC was 0.992 for pudding. In adults, ICC was 0.999 for solids. Conclusion: The P-AS is a reliable scale and has high clinical applicability for each age group and in all consistencies.
