Özet

Iliopsoas or iliopectineal bursa (IPB) is the largest synovial bursa in the human body and is present in 98% of the individuals. Its inflammation or enlargement not a common condition especially can be seen due to the hip joint pathology. According to the severity and direction of bursal enlargement, patients complain of various symptoms like groin pain, thigh pain, testicular pain, compression symptoms of bladder and colon. Because it is a rare condition and can cause various clinical symptoms and signs, misdiagnoses may result in false treatment approaches, such as, laminectomy and epididymectomy. In physical examination palpable mass in the inguinal region and groin pain occurring while stretching psoas muscle are important. By using ultrasonography, computerized tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, diagnosis can be easily made. Treatment may be conservative or surgical depending on the causative pathology.
