Özet

Pediatric surgeons are currently an integral part of multidisciplinary management in the treatment of childhood tumors. Many developments occur in the field of molecular genetics, diagnostic and imaging methods, and surgical and oncological treatments of pediatric tumors. Pediatric surgeons follow new developments promptly and give support to this special group of child patients. Pediatric surgeons involve biopsy procedures, staging, management of prenatally diagnosed tumors and the treatment of surgical complications encountered during oncological therapy, in addition to tumor resection. Surgical treatment 1 should be done accordingly the treatment protocols. Surgical treatment consists of primary surgery, lymph node sampling or lymph node dissection in some tumors, surgical staging, surgery after chemotherapy and / or radiotherapy, risk-based management, surgery in advanced stages, surgery for residual and recurrent tumors and for metastasis. All surgical approaches should be done in accordance with the current developments. An increased survival rates can be expected when the surgical treatment of childhood solid tumors is performed in experienced and specialized centers where all components of multidisciplinary management are available.
