Özet

Actinomyces species can cause oppurtunistic infections due to the disruption of mucosal surface of genital system although they are the normal inhabitants of this surface. Adhesion of bacteria to host tissues is a vital step in pathogenicity. However, the whole biologic mechanism is not clear. In this review, it is discussed that how Actinomyces species adhere to vaginal epithelial cells, neutrophil leukocytes, erythrocytes, other microorganisms or each other in the light of literature. The factors leading to actinomycotic lesions are also discussed.
