The aim of the research was to examine the mother-child emotion talk as well as the relations between emotion talk, mothers' beliefs about children's emotions and emotion regulation skills of children. Fifty mothers and their 4-to 6-year-old preschool children participated in the study. The following measures were used: General Information Form to measure sociodemographic information of families, Parents' Beliefs About Children's Emotions Questionnaire to measure mothers' beliefs about children's emotions, and Emotion Regulation Checklist to measure children's emotion regulation skills. Recorded conversations of mother-child emotion talk were transcribed and evaluated using content analysis. Then, the results were converted into numerical data. Results indicated that mothers' emotion talk were significantly higher than that of children. Further, mothers' emotion talk predicted children's emotion talk. Mothers' beliefs about their children's emotions did not predict mother/children emotion talk. However, there was a significant relation between children's emotion regulation skills and mothers' beliefs about their children's emotions.
