Özet

The purpose of this research is to assess the elementary education dimension of the "Elementary and Secondary Class Guidance Curriculum" which was developed in 2006 by the Ministry of Education, through considering the curriculum design and making use of the ideas of the experts and school counselors (guidance teachers). For this aim, objectives, content, teaching-learning process and evaluation which are the basic components of the curriculum are taken as the criterion. This is qualitative research and employs document analysis and interview techniques. Maximum variability sampling was preferred in constructing the research group; and the views of 30 participants- of whom eight were experts in curriculum and instruction, seven were experts in guidance and counseling and 15 were guidance teachers- were received through semi-structured questionnaire forms. The data obtained through document analysis and interviews were analyzed via descriptive analysis. In conclusion, the curriculum might be considered as one which has been based on the perception of developmental guidance, which is visionary, process-based, and which targets students' overall development. However, it appears that some arrangement is necessary to remove the problems in application so that it can contribute to conducting guidance services in schools.
