Abstract
Cybervetting is the examination of
social networking sites by employers in the evaluation of candidates during the recruitment and selection process. The method offers employment and career opportunities for job seekers and expands their business networks. For employers, it functions as a practice that provides an optimal and effective solution that saves time and cost in predicting the potential adaptation and performance of candidates. The method, which offers significant opportunities and advantages to candidates and employers, is criticized as a controversial practice due to the distorting effect it creates on ethical issues. It is seen that areas such as privacy, transparency, justice, reliability, validity, and confidentiality are among the ethical issues in question. In the study, cybervetting is evaluated for both candidates and employers in terms of the opportunities it offers and the disruptive effects it creates.
