Özet

For the efficient management of water, meteorological and hydrological services need to know how much water evaporates from natural lakes and reservoirs during particularly hot summer months. Following the technical requirements of the World Meteorological Organization on use of an evaporation pan for this purpose, we improved the use of the classical evaporation pan to measure at any time, with high precision, both evaporation and rainfall for a given locality. A microcontroller energizes a simple electromechanical level-measurement system to maintain the water level within a determined depth interval, and to measure the depth of water decreases (evaporation with 32m precision) or increases (rainfall with 4m precision). A prototype was succesful for 1 month (late summer) of field testing, but a longer testing period would be necessary to suggest its use in modern meteorological stations.
