Özet

Problem Statement: Teacher candidates accepted to the 67 Faculties of Education all over Turkey come from various high schools including Anatolian teacher training high schools, early childhood education departments of vocational high schools for girls, general high schools, Anatolian high schools, super high schools, and science schools. It is noteworthy that graduates of teacher training high schools are granted extra points in the university selection and placement examination and that they are awarded scholarships by MONE if they choose teacher education departments of Faculties of Education. However, there is not enough evidence indicating that teacher candidates coming from these schools form a more qualified source for Faculties of Education and that they significantly outperform teacher candidates from other sources.
