Information and digital literacy is key to citizenship, at all levels of education and in all circumstances, as highlighted from the UNESCO Alexandria Proclamation in 2005 to the recent Seoul Declaration in 2020. Information overload and its complexity, technologisation and its constant evolution make quality interaction with the information environment the cornerstone of all learning, as everyone needs a set of information literacy skills as a basis for learning in the knowledge society. It is increasingly essential to promote information literacy, as part of the process of teaching how to learn and reflect, so that everyone knows how to recognise when they need information, how to acquire it, how to locate it, how to evaluate it and how to use it effectively and ethically. And all this without forgetting that technology is the vehicle, but the key is critical thinking.
