This project involves actions that will assist policymakers and
PE teachers to promote inactive pupils’ participation in sport and Physical
Activity (PA). Policymakers will be
encouraged to provide extra-curricular sport and PA in schools with high levels
of inactivity, while PE teachers will be trained to motivate inactive pupils to
participate in these activities. Moreover, PE teachers will be trained to
collaborate with other organizations interested in the promotion of physical
activity, such as local authorities, sport clubs at the local level etc. These
actions address the European policy stemming from Recommendation 16 of the EXG on HEPA (2015, Page 16): “–
Schools, alone or accompanied by
other relevant organizations should promote and increase the availability of physical
activities outside the physical education curriculum (e.g. physical activity and
sport, active breaks) including the implementation of the active school concept.”
