Assoc. Prof. ŞENAY AKIN

Biography

Dr. Akin received her BSc from Hacettepe University Faculty of Sports Sciences. She earned her MS and PhD from the Institute of Health Sciences, Hacettepe University. She has been working as a research assistant and a member of Dr. Demirel's research lab at Hacettepe University Faculty of Sports Sciences since 2005. During her postgraduate education, she worked as a researcher at Juntendo University Sport and Health Institute for 3 months in 2007, Semmelweis University Sports Science Research Institute for 5 months in 2009, and a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in 2010-2011. Dr. Akin’s research focuses on the cellular responses to environmental stresses such as physical activity and inactivity, the molecular regulation of protein degradation in skeletal muscle during immobilization characterized by muscle wasting, and signaling pathways associated with skeletal muscle atrophy.
